Observations: A majority of respondents, 89 percent, live directly in the study area. Also, almost one third (29 percent) of respondents live on Clark Shaw Rd.

2. This question asked respondents to rank each corridor option in order of preference with 1 being the best alternative and 4 being the least preferred.

Summary: Based on the surveys collected, 29 respondents ranked Corridor A as their 1st choice, 11 respondents ranked Corridor B as their 1st choice, 12 ranked Corridor C as their 1st choice and 19 ranked Corridor D as their 1st choice. When ranking their least preferred option, 11 respondents chose Corridor A, 9 chose Corridor B, 10 chose Corridor C and 29 chose Corridor D.

Note:
"Not preferred" signifies when respondents ranked some options, but indicated that certain options are not at all preferred.

3/4/6 These three questions asked for comments on the corridors and potential modifications.

Content Analysis for Questions 3, 4 & 6

Below are observations made from open-ended questions 3, 4 and 6 on the survey
distributed at the September 29, 2004 Open House.

Commonly mentioned concerns for all respondents:

    Railroad Tracks:
    • There were 15 comments concerning the railroad tracks.
    • In general, respondents favored corridors with close proximity to the tracks in order to contain noise.

    Schools:
    • There were 8 comments regarding existing and future traffic related to the schools.
    • In general, respondents felt some Corridors were too close to the proposed new school.

    Property Value:
    • There were 4 comments regarding property value.
    • In general, respondents fear that proximity to Corridors will decrease their property value.
    Impact to residents:
    • In general, respondents favored a Corridor based on their perceived impact to current residents.
    • Respondents generally favor Corridors that impact the least amount of existing homes and structures.
    Suggested Modifications:
    • 8 respondents suggested using and/or widening Liberty Rd.
    • 6 respondents suggested combining Corridors B and C.
    • 3 respondents suggested combining Corridors C and D.

    Effectiveness of the Open House:
    • Many respondents expressed a desire to have a question and answer session and/or a chance for verbal feedback.
    • Several respondents also suggested larger and/or clearer exhibits of the corridor plans.
    • Three respondents offered words of encouragement and thanks.

Observations: The majority of respondents reside in the study area. An evaluation of their verbatim comments will provide additional insight about their suggestions and concerns they have with the plans to extend Sawmill Parkway.
